This month I am going back to my original idea of why I started this club in the first place: to bring you amazing premium cigars. My goal is also to highlight cigar companies that you may not have heard of but are doing great things. This month's feature company is Casa Caraballo. Owner Mario Caraballo has released some amazing cigars and this month, you get to enjoy two of his creations, the 828 Claro and the 828 Oscuro.

Let's dive into this month's subscription box!

Casa Caraballo 828 Claro - Toro 5 x 52

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Rosado

Binder: Ecuadorian Sumatra

Filler: Nicaraguan (Estelí, Condega, & Jalapa)

The 828 Claro Habano first catches the eye with its vivid hue and then captivates the palate with its citrusy spice, supple leather, and caffe macchiato complexities. Winding candied floral aspects tickle the olfactories and linger into a crisp finish. This is an amazing medium body cigar that is full of flavor and delivers an amazing experience.

Casa Caraballo 828 Oscuro - Torpedo 5 x 52

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano

Binder: Ecuadorian Sumatra

Filler: Nicaraguan (Estelí, Condega, & Jalapa)

The 828 Oscuro is a decadent treat for the senses and a nod to cigar connoisseurs who demand smoothly delivered depths of nuance. Riding on creamy clouds and savory oils are consistent notes of vanilla bean, pepper, and wood complexities, along with an inherent subtle sweetness and so much more. I really enjoyed the ride this cigar took me on. Medium body with tons of flavor made this a very memorable cigar.

Nica Rustica Adobe - Toro 6 x 52

Wrapper - Habano

Binder - Brazil

Filler - Nicaragua

Indulging in the Nica Rustico Adobe is like embarking on a sensory escapade that tantalizes the taste buds and elevates the art of smoking to new heights. This cigar, with its captivating rustic appearance, exudes an irresistible charm that beckons aficionados and novices alike. Meticulously crafted for a flawless draw and even burn, the Nica Rustico Adobe promises not just a smoking experience but a rendezvous with an array of delightful flavors. The blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos unfolds a symphony of tastes, from the warm embrace of cedar to the smooth caress of leather, heightened by a subtle hint of spice. It strikes the perfect chord, offering a moderate strength that suits any occasion, making it a versatile companion for both daytime relaxation and evening celebrations.

La Aurora 120th Anniversary - Toro 5.75 x 54

Wrapper - Dominican Habano 92

Binder - Dominican Republic

Filler - Ciabo Valley (Dominican Republic)

Celebrating 120 years of embodying the rich, distinct flavors of the cigar world, the La Aurora 120th Anniversary is blended with strictly Dominican tobacco. This cigar is wrapped flawlessly in a Habano 92 wrapper, bound with an Olor binder, and filled with Corojo, Olor, and Piloto Cubano tobaccos, all from the Cibao Valley located in the northern part of the island. The La Aurora 120th Anniversary provides consumers with a bold smokey pepper start evolving into a sweet, creamy, coffee bean taste along with notes of cocoa, tropical fruits, and wild honey throughout.

El Pulpo by Artesano Del Tobacco - Belicoso Grande 5-3/4 x 58

Wrapper - Mexican

Binder - Nicaragua

Filler - Nicaragua

El Pulpo is one of the newest cigars by Artesano del Tobacco. This cigar is dense and has a powerful character to it. It is made by A.J. Fernandez in Nicaragua with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper that the company says is aged for a longer period of time than is typical of Mexican wrappers. For this reason, the brand took a bit of extra time to come to market. When the wrapper was finally ready, the result was a big, bold cigar that also showed balance and purpose. It isn’t strong just for the sake of being strong, but offers layers of coffee bean, dark chocolate, nuts and citrus that make a lasting statement. The cigars come from brothers Gus and Billy Fakih, former New York City cigar shop owners who left retail to become full-time blenders. Their first line, Viva La Vida, has appeared on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 list, and El Pulpo has brought them to the next level. The name translates to “The Octopus” in Spanish because the tendrils of smoke are supposed to surround your palate the way an octopus grabs its prey. It's a very creative way of describing this cigar and I don't disagree!
