Crafting Unique and Authentic Cigars

Founded by Michael Tarnowicz in 2000, Battleground Cigar is a boutique cigar company based in Hazardville, Connecticut. Their mission is simple: to create unique and authentic cigars that represent the rich history of Connecticut and the United States.

As a family-owned business, Battleground Cigar takes an honest and humble approach to cigar making, using only the finest Connecticut cigar leaf and premium filler to create a final product that meets the highest standards of quality. Their theme is inspired by the US Civil War and Connecticut tobacco history, which blended together create a one-of-a-kind boutique cigar.

Despite being a small company, they are constantly growing and evolving to offer a smoking experience that is different from the norm. Offering cigars with a range of traditional Connecticut shade and broadleaf wrappers, as well as Corojo Maduro, Brazilian, and Nicaraguan wrappers. Bourbon and Irish whiskey infused and Louisiana perique blended premium cigars can also be found among their offerings.

At Battleground Cigar, staying true to their roots while embracing innovation has been the key to their success. After spending some time at their shop in Enfield, Connecticut, I was able to enjoy a few cigars from their portfolio, and decided to feature two of their cigars in Boricua Cigar Club's April subscription pack.

The Longstreet Perfecto

The Battleground Cigar Longstreet Perfecto is a unique cigar that features a triple fermented broadleaf wrapper, Connecticut broadleaf binder, with Dominican and ligero fillers. The cigar is expertly crafted, with a perfect draw and an even burn. It boasts a complex flavor profile and pairs well with coffee or bourbon.

OPK (Old Powered Keg) Maduro

The Battleground Cigars OPK Maduro is a dark and rich cigar that features a Maduro Corojo wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. The cigar offers a full-bodied smoking experience, with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and spice.
