El Baton is one of J.C. Newman’s classic brands, first crafted by founder J.C. Newman in 1914. Originally hand-rolled in Cleveland, Ohio with Cuban tobacco, this nickel cigar enjoyed years of popularity before fading from shelves in the 1920s as machine-made cigars took over the market.
Nearly a century later, in 2008, J.C.’s grandsons, Eric and Bobby Newman, brought El Baton back to life, this time as the company’s first Nicaraguan cigar.
